Things to do

There are so many things to do in the peak district, places to see and visit, as well as many seasonal celebrations happening.  here are a few to wet your appetite.

Chatsworth house is on the doorstep, with many events happening through the year.  They have East Egg hunts in the garden,  a country fair in september,  a  ‘beyond limits’ sculpture exhibition within the gardens, at a time when the gardens are still ablaze with colour and texture, and it runs from around October each year.   They usually have bonfires and the house is dressed for christmas from November through to the end of December.  There are many other activities happening there, check out their website.  There is also an excellent farm with a milking demonstartion and a fabulous
children’s playground.

Chatsworth estate also have a wonderful farm shop which empties your purse but you do come back with a bag full of scrummy food to eat.

Haddon Hall is also very close by, five minutes by car or if you are feeling fit you can walk through the fields and then carry on to Bakewell and catch the bus back to Youlgrave.  The rose garden at Haddon in June is beautiful.

Bakewell has a market every monday, the stalls start to pack up around 4pm.

There is also a farmers market in the agricultural centre in bakewell, worth a look and check out on the local Bakewell website as they do move the date around.
